The Commission selected Sydney Gordon to receive the 2024 Richard S. Hodes Award. Mr. Gordon has served the nuclear and waste management industry for over 40 years in a variety of technical and management positions. He has provided exemplary and impactful scientific, engineering, project management expertise to environmental projects including US Department of Energy radioactive waste management operations at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS – formerly the Nevada Test Site [NTS]) and the Oak Ridge Reservation, environmental compliance and field services for the US Army Corps of Engineers, air quality research and development and field monitoring operations for the US Environmental Protection Agency, and preparation of National Environmental Policy Act documentation for the US Air Force. During his period of service to the NNSS/NTS, Mr. Gordon provided program and technical support and served a key role in the development and execution of the NNSS/NTS waste acceptance and disposal policies and practices.
